This antique pitcher came from my grandmother's first cousin, Maime Funkhouser. They lived in Takoma Park, Washington D.C., back in the 1940's. This is part of Takoma Park, Maryland, but on the D.C., side. Maime and Perry had chickens, and a wonderful garden on Dahlia Street. Just think of having chickens in your backyard in D.C., and it wasn't that long ago. Anyway, the gold handle with the black top of the pitcher and the decorative floral on the base was just calling me to paint it. I think now my lady apples are at their end so I will have to wait until November to buy new ones.
