Boundless 36 x 36 Oil on Canvas

The name of this painting is from a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson called Crossing the Bar. My good friend Judy named the painting after I sent her an image.  Judy and I worked together while I was in college and she was working on her masters.  Judy is one of the smartest people I have ever known.  She is one of those people that can if you say a date she probably knows exactly what was going on that day or at least in her life she does.  That is exactly why we are still friends.  One day back in the 80's we were working and I asked her what the date was and she told me the date.  Then she said what she was doing on that date back in the 60's.  She mentioned her friend Glee.  I said I know a Glee and of course she wouldn't think it was the same person.  So when I saw Glee at the scuba class I was taking I asked her if she knew Judy and she said yes!  To this day we say that is the reason we are still friends.  If that had not happened I think we would have gone our separate ways.  Thank you Judy!  It is sometimes hard to come up with names for paintings.

This painting is available at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta.  On Thursday, March 26th there will be a show called Instameet.  The opening will be from 6-8pm and will run probably for a month.  Please stop by if you have a chance.  There will be many different paintings from gallery artists.

I plan on doing more of these paintings where I was standing in the water.

Into The Light 24 x 24 Oil on Panel

This painting went had several changes from a light background to a textured foreground to flowers in the vase.  Finally I reworked it several times until I decided to make it more simple with the emphasis on the light and dark.  I also used the opposite colors of orange and blue to have an emphasis on color.  The painting is available at the Shain Gallery in North Carolina.  By the way I always find it interesting on the blog who where my audience comes from.  I just looked and it showed 753 page views last week.  hmmm.  That sounds fishy to me!  Always interesting to look at your stats if you have a blog.

Pink Roses with Blue and White Jar 12 x 16 Oil on Panel

I painted this around Valentine's.  I always seem to do that and the flowers are more expensive.  Guess I was in the mood.  This painting is available at the Shain Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In The Morning 24 x 20 Oil On Linen

My coworker Roberto gave me this wonderful antique Turkish teapot recently.  Around 20 years ago he purchased it while we were at the furniture market in High Point, NC.  At the time I wish I had purchased one.  I think I did buy a perfume bottle and maybe one other thing that I gave to my mother.  Roberto is now moving to Florida although we will still work together.  He is downsizing and he gave the teapot to me.  I do plan on painting it again. Roberto if you are reading this I promise to paint you a painting with this teapot in it.  This painting will be available at the Shain Gallery in a week or so.
