East Beach 36 x 36 on Canvas
Last March I took a plein air workshop with Bill Davidson on St. Simon's Island, Georgia. The class was a week of plein air painting. We had a great time and met many artists. We had a lot of challenges with the gnats one day on the marsh. All of our paintings had dead gnats on them. My favorite days were on the beach painting. I took many photos and this is from on of them. Luckily one of artist had a house on East Beach so we were able to work out of her house and on the beach. This painting came from a morning of rain that was still around. The sun was just starting to break through and shine on the water. This painting is part of the Southern Artists, Southern Scenes at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia. The show is up for 3 weeks or so. Check it out if you have time.

Low Country Marsh 36 x 48 Oil on Canvas
This is the largest landscape I have done so far. This is actually from the May River in Bluffton, South Carolina looking out on to the marshes. The day we were there it was beautiful and we were actually in town for my Uncle's funeral back in June. He is buried out in the garden of the church that looks over the May River. It is a well known Episcopal Church and its absolutely amazing. If you are ever on your way to Hilton Head check out Bluffton. It's a hidden gem.
This painting will is available at Anne Irwin Fine Art and it will be part of the Southern Artists, Southern Scenes that starts this Friday, September 19th. Check it out if you are in Atlanta.
