I am getting ready for the Small Works Shows at both galleries. This is a new size for me and it is a gallery wrapped canvas so no frame. I think it gives it a more contemporary feeling. There are spa colors in the background along with greys. This nest is a mockingbird nest and I found in the holly bush at my mothers house. Their nests remind you of playing pick up sticks. The nest is so loosely made with twigs in every direction and somehow the thing stays together. It probably helps that they build their nests in the holly bushes, which are so hard to get into that the birds must feel safe. This painting will be available at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia. I will drop it off in a week or so and the show starts November 14th. Stop by if you are in the area.
This painting was involved in last months show and I am finally getting around to posting the photo. Last year I painted at this park in South Carolina. It was nice once we finally found where we were to meet. It's a nice state park in Mount Pleasant. Check it out if you are in the area.
Make a beautiful statement with every painting. That is my motto. It could be a color, shape, texture or object in a painting that pulls the whole painting together. No matter if it is an old masters type of a painting, landscape, seascape or portrait I am always looking for a certain energy to come through my paintings.
Throughout my life I have been encouraged to create. During college I found myself interested in Textile Design and graduated with a BFA in Textile Design from Georgia State University. I have over 20 years’ experience in the textile field. From designing throw blankets, rugs, apparel, paper goods to upholstery material. Needing an additional creative outlet, I started taking oil painting classes locally and eventually studying with many internationally known artists as David Leffel, Daniel Keys, Sarah Lamb, Qiang Huang, Scott Conary, Robert Johnson, Nancy Franke, Karen Appleton and Bill Davidson among others. This eventually led me to art groups, small venues and then to an emerging artist show, which propelled my art career.
I am represented by The Studio Gallery.
